Tuna Pasta

Serves: 2

tuna pasta, 1eightykitchen weekly recipe, pantry dinner

The first time I tried tuna pasta was actually in Florence in Italy, and whilst it isn’t what you would consider a very Italian dish it is very tasty and super simple to make.

I don’t know if I ever would have thought to combine tinned tuna with pasta, which is funny cause I actually really like tinned tuna (can’t do any other fish in a can though). Since being introduced to it I now have many different variations.

We always have the ingredients for this dish in the house. They are like my absolute essential pantry items because I still have countless evenings where I literally have no interest at all in making whats been planned, or I simply can’t be bothered. So this is my go to first choice fill in.

Hands down I prefer to throw this together in 15 minutes than wait for some form of nasty takeaways………Unless of course I am hungover then I’ll gladly wait for pizza.

What you'll need

Pasta - absolutely any variety but my preference is gluten free spaghetti

From the pantry

1 x 185g tin sirenna tuna - Italian oil or chili

1 x ready to use pasta sauce any variety

Parmesan cheese

Salt and pepper

Any other ingredients are a bonus!

If you can be bothered with onions, garlic and oregano then it will naturally be a whole lot nicer but hey some nights I seriously don’t even feel like chopping an onion and this still works fine without.

Variations

Plain with garlic, chili and parsley..... Simple white sauce..... Cold with mayo and chives.... Onions and garlic caramelised in butter..... Just butter and lemon..... Options are endless just depends on what you have floating around......basically if you have tuna and pasta in the house you always have a dinner on hand.

Prep and Cook

Cook pasta

Heat sauce

Add tuna (oil and all)

Season

Combine

Top with parmesan

Then of course add anything else that you like.

Parsley, rocket, olives, pesto, chili, anything you think might work that you need to use up.

Enjoy!
